Beer & Cider Nov. 25th, 2009 @ 06:32 pm
Fingers crossed on my keg working this time. Drew off a sample today before I put it into the shed until December 10th. Plenty of pressure so seals seem to be holding, just hope it stays that way. I'm going to see if I can get some bits for a mini keg setup at Christmas.

Just sat down at the computer to work out some conditioing times and ABVs for various brews.

Currently conditioing:
*Mincemeet cider 10.6% drinkable 18/12/09
*Dark Lager 4.52% drinkable 12/01/10
*Dasher the fasher 4.66% drinkable 10/12/09
*Spiced Cider 11.2% drinkable 28/12/09

At least a few of the Chrismas brews will be ready before Christmas

I can park at Tescos again Nov. 20th, 2009 @ 02:51 pm
I'm sure it's not really needed, but I used to have a Tesco 'parking permit', for parking in their parent and child spaces. I got it when I joined their baby club. When I got the Micra I tried to figure out how to get another one. In the end I just signed up to the baby club again.

I didn't think it was going to arrive because I was already a memembr so Jenni signed up.

Anyway the Tesco Baby Club Welcome pack arrived today complete with Parking permit, so it's in the car now.

Kegs again :( Nov. 19th, 2009 @ 09:52 am
I haven't kegged anything for a while, mostly due to not beg able to store it between 8 and 14 degress C.

Well right time of year for that. I brewed up a Christmas kit over the last couple of weeks. It's called 'Dasher the Flasher', should be about 4.5%.

I even got Jenni to sit in the drivers seat for a bit, the closet she's come to driving for a while.

I don't like the pixio Oct. 27th, 2009 @ 12:16 pm

Some interesting post Oct. 23rd, 2009 @ 11:48 am
Got my new insurance documents in the post today. Along with a ltter syaing I haven't given them the information they asked for. I nver new wanted wanted any, so I phoned up and it's orted. I'm getting a discount on the insurance because I don't use the car a lot. So if I get close to the annaul milage set on the policy I have to call them and change the polciy. Shouldn't be a problem.

Also got a replacement cell phone for the one that broke. Luckily hvaing it synced via bluetooth with my outlook at work, it's saved all my numbers etc.

I'm going to go out to the car and fit the nice tax disc holder that I got with my insurance bits.

Still more to do Oct. 21st, 2009 @ 01:21 pm
My nice new cell phone is broken. The screen has stopped working. I phoned the help desk, and they say warranty is onlt two weeks. I've had the phone for four. My boss wan't very happy about it but I've gotten approval to order a new one. This is a differnet model so will hopefully last longer.

I got a £30 refund for the tax on my old car, which is quite nice. I need to go and pay it into the bank along with some money my sister has kindly given me towards the car.

The 'check engine' light on the car came on at the weekend when I was showing it to my Grandma. I got a 12 month warranty from the dealer, so I took it in on Monday. The timming chain is slightly warped. It's booked in to be fixed on Tuesday, it's driveable until then and I'll get a coursety car while they're doing it.

All set for tommorow Oct. 15th, 2009 @ 03:01 pm
I took a walk at lunch to make sure I can walk to the car dealership from work. I can so will walk into walk tommorow and drive home! Hopefully I don't forget the car.

Almost have a car Oct. 12th, 2009 @ 08:28 am
The weekend was busy looking at cars. We went to Leicester on Saturday to have a look at a Honda Jazz. I liked the model in general but this one wasn't in very good shape, and it only had a cassette/radio. I'd need to get an 2004 reg to get a CD player.

Sunday I looked at some Citreon C3s which were quite nice. By that time we were a bit overwhelmed by cars, so we went to Nissian dealership to look at Micras again.

They had a approved used 2003 blue Micra, for £4000. Spent a while looking at it, and took it for a test drive. The apholstery was a bit marked and torn in a few places, but otherwise ok. The boot is a fairly good size and the back seat slides forward to give more space in the boot.

It comes with 3 months RAC cover, 12 months waranty, 6 months tax and 7 days insurance. There's no MOT on it, so they're going to MOt it. I've put a deposit down, just have to wait for it to be MOTed. Should be able to pick it up at the end of the week.

Micra Oct. 7th, 2009 @ 09:16 pm
Looked at a Micra today. Good size boot for a small car, back seat isn't overly big but big enough. This was an automatic, seemed a bit strange not having a pedla under my left foot. Not after an automatic, just looked at this one because it was around the corner from my house.

I'm going to look at a couple of used Honda Jazzs at the weekend. At the moment it's between one of them and a Micra. If I get a Micra it will probbaky be a manual, there are plenty around in my price range.

Not so great news Oct. 5th, 2009 @ 11:16 am
I cleared out the car on Saturday, felt a bit strange. Also bought back some unpleasant memories of the assault. I called a car scarppage place to get the car taken away. They were meant to be comming 9am this morning. However they double booked.

I waited at my Mum and Dad's until 10:30 I called them a couple of times, didn't get through so I went back home to log onto work. I had told my boss I'd be in late but didn't think it would be that late.

I just got a call back from them, they double booked and are comming at 4pm.

There is a used 2004 reg Nissian Micra for sale at a dealership around the corner from me. It's an automatic which I don't really want, but Jenni is going to look at it on her way home later to get an idea of the size of the car.

The line up yesterday didn't go great either. It wasn't an actauly line up they show you video mugshots on the computer. There were two people they wanted me to identify. The first was the person who kicked me, however was able to positvly idnetify him. There were a couple of clips which could have been him. There was a solictor there for that one, making sure that I wasn't given any other information by the police. The second person was just one of the people hanging around the car. Didn't recognise him at all.

I felt really tired yesterday afternoon, and didn't sleep so great last night.

Line up Sep. 30th, 2009 @ 10:42 am
The police just called. They want me to go down the police station to identify the attackers from a lineup. Not sure I'm going to be able to identify them, and not looking forward to it.

In other related news. I've just declared my car off the road, and sent my tax disk off for a partial refund.

I need to get the car cleared out and call up scrap yard, but haven't had time so far.

Not getting the 206 Sep. 28th, 2009 @ 03:15 pm
My Mum has decided that she doesn't like the new car she was looking at. So I'm just going to get mine scrapped and then look for a second hand one. I've just got the tax disk out of the car, so I can declare it off-road and get a refund.

I've got to take a few bits out of the car. Including the radio, and then call up a local scrap yard. Once it's gone I'll go and look at some cars. Right now I'm looking at Micras.

Well I've decided Sep. 28th, 2009 @ 09:01 am
If my Mum wants to get a new car I'll buy her old one. She can't decide, she preffers the shape of her 206 to a 207, but she wants a new car. They don't make 206s any more, so it would have to be a 207.

Doctors and Car Sep. 25th, 2009 @ 06:05 pm
I finally went to the Doctors today. He thinks my arm is just sprained. At least I know now.

Still trying to decide what to do about the car. My car is eligible for the scrapapge allowance if I wanted to get a new one and sell it to my Mum.

So it's a choice between my Mum's car or something else.

My Mum's car is a Peugout 206sw(estate). It's a 1.6 engine which is slightly bigger than I'd normaly buy but not too big.

Despite technicaly being an estate it's not that big a car, it's a normal 206 with a bigger boot. The extra space will be nice.

It's just really the running costs which put me off. It's tax band D so £120. Although I pay about that on the car I have now. Also the insurance will be about £100 more a year.

On the plus side I know it's history. It's a diesel which I'd like but is out of my price range otherwise.

My Mum hasn't named a price but proabbly £5000 to £5500 for it. That minus the scrappage means £3000-£3500.

I've been looking on autotrader and for that kind of price I can get a smaller car for lower tax and insurance. Although these are all petrol cars with lower MPG, and a couple of years older than my Mums.

I need a new car Sep. 20th, 2009 @ 06:02 pm
The police looked at the car last week. So yesterday I called out the RAC to find out why the car wouldn't start. I drove it to my Mum and Dad's after the asault to put it in their garage. I got it part way into the garage and it conked out and wouldn't start.

My Dad had pushed it onto the nettles in the entry behind their neighbours garage, which she was ok with.

Anyway I went down there yesterday to give it another try before calling the RAC. Someone had glued a note onto the windscreen 'YOUR CAR IS IN THE WAY.MOVE IT'. Couldn't see how it was in the way and they didn't have to glue the entire thing on.

I called the RAC, he said it was the timing belt and that it could have caused other damage when it went.

He helped us push the car into my Mum and Dad's gargage. So at least it's out of the way.

Given the age of the car, and the other damage I'm just going to scrap it.

The goverment is currenlty doing deal where if you scrap a car over ten years old, you get £2000 off a new one.

I don't want a new car. However my Mum is thinking of gettig a new car. What we are thinking of doing is for me to buy the car she wants, as I should get the £2000 scrappage allowance off it. Then I'd sell the car to her, and buy her car.
